The Conversation, My convert-sation

Recently i took a train from KL Sentral to Teluk Gadong. However, the train was a shutter train that only stopped at Klang station, hence i had to take another train from Klang to Teluk Gadong. A day before taking that train, i pulled out an old note book and read what i had written on it last time. Surprisingly i found some notes on public evangelism =). It said that in order to approach, first you need to observe, look for an opening, etc.

Anyway, while on that train i overhead some people talking. In particular, it was a conversation between an old chinese man and an indian lady. This is the rough conversation.

OM = the old man
L = the lady

OM : News news (looking at the newspaper that was in L's hand). Without news, no life. But too bad, only got bad news. (At that moment, i knew there was an opening =D)

L : Yup..(Listens)

OM : (Talks ALOT)..

L : (Keeps listening and gives some response once a while)

OM : Look at the world today. There was once i attended a conference and those who exercise were asked to stand up. Response was so little, less thn 6% of the participants. People know that they need to exercise, yet they don't do it. (A quote from him that i can use to revert to him back if necessary).

I prayed and asked God to give me courage and strength to talk to him, to tell him there is GOOD news in this world, the BEST news mankind could ever know of! I asked God to get me closer to him so i can join the conversation and make a move when another opening comes. God got me close but i was standing in front of him. By now the lady had sat somewhere else. I figured it would be awkward to stand and talk to him so I prayed to get me a seat next to him, that the guy seating next to him would get off the next station. Amazingly (but honestly i kinda expected it to come), God answered and the guy that sat next to him got off the next station. I guessed i didn't have any excuse anymore to run away from this opportunity to share about the GOOD news and i didn't want to be selfish either. So i sat next to him, but he kept talking to the lady next to him (for some who are wondering why there are 3 seats, it was the other type of KTM, if not mistaken the older one). Again i prayed for God to shut his mouth so that i can talk to him. Well, prayer answered again! I made my move =)

Me : Excuse me sir, just now i couldn't help but overhear your conversation with the lady over there. Do you believe that theres only bad news in the world?

OM : Yes young man how can i help you? what are you studying? do you want to do a thesis?

Me : Nope i don't want to do a thesis, i'm studying (bla bla bla). So do you believe theres only bad news?

OM : (Spoke something i couldn't remember). Look at america, its such a spiritual country. Their money has "In God we Trust" printed on it.

Me : So do you believe in God?

OM : Oh, i see where you're getting too. Now more and more american universities are implying buddhism studies (or something like that) in the universities. This is because they realized the importance of it. You are still young, should READ MORE. (Speaks some chinese words about buddhism or taoism teachings).

Me : Oh by the way I'm a Christian. So, are you a buddhist or a taoist?

OM : Don't jump into conclusions! You cannot jump into conclusions just like that. (Keeps talking and talking and talking). You should READ more about other religions. Don't just focus on one religion.

Me : Hmm..so do you know how to become a Christian?

OM : What do you mean? your topic is too broad, too wide. (At this moment i was like...O_o, is it really too broad?because as i know theres only one answer). How do you become a Christian? (He asks me back)

Me : Its simple, just believe that Jesus Christ is God and that He came to take away all your wrong doings. (Wait, why is he asking me when he claims he read the Bible already?)

OM : (Turns head away) You should READ more. (Keeps talking about READING, READING, READING more).

Well, the conversation continues, but theres really nothing to it. In the end, he said that all religions are the same if you READ it thoroughly and dig deep, all are ONE. Readers, don't be fooled by that please. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me!". It simply means, the only way to God is through Jesus. Now if all religions are ONE, how can it be possible that Jesus is the only way yet, other ways by other religions are also possible? How can a pregnant women be not pregnant at the same time? How can 2 truths which contradict each other be accepted? Truly somewhere, something is wrong!
Anyway, lets see, you readers should know that the OM kept talking and talking and talking. I tried to ask some questions but each time i tried, he interrupted me which made me very frustrated on the inside (of course i didn't show it).

Some things i learnt from this conversation :
1). Perhaps i should read more about other religions.
2). I need to find a way to get my message across without getting interrupted all the time.
3). Prayer helps A LOT!

Some things HE should learn from this conversation :
1). LISTEN
2). LISTEN
3). LISTEN
4). LISTEN
5). try experiencing instead of just READING =)

Just a thought, what would have happened if he would have listened to what i had to say to him?
1). He might have booked his name in the book of life!
2). He might have his life changed!
3). He might have had a mansion up above!

Why is this my convert-sation? Because it made me realize that i should fulfill the burden/dream God has planted in me for 2 years already. The burden to evangelize in trains. Anyway, all i can do now is pray that he will find the truth and experience the true God! For those readers who are Christians and are reading this, please be filled with the burden to reach out, and fulfill lives! The end is near, people really really REALLY NEED TO HEAR THE GOOD NEWS!!

Anyone interested in carrying this burden with me can contact me at hodob_pgan@hotmail.com. Conversation flow might not be purely accurate, again, it is a rough conversation portraying the important points only. Also it is a TRUE experience experienced by me, my testimony.
God bless..
